Future perfect continuous

The point

Will have been plus -ing stresses the length of an activity up to a future point. By June she will have been working here for a year. The length marker is for or since, not a closed day such as yesterday.

Form and use

The future perfect continuous is will have been plus the -ing form. It looks back from a future point at an activity that has been going on, often with for or since. By June she will have been leading the team for a year. The been is required. Will have leading and will have been lead are wrong.

Forms: By June she will have been working here for a year. By June she won't have been working here for a year. Will she have been working here for a year by June? For plus a length: for a year, for three hours. Since plus a start: since March, since Monday. By plus the future point you look back from.

Use this when the duration matters, not only the completion. By noon I will have written the note is future perfect simple: the note is finished. By noon I will have been writing for four hours is future perfect continuous: the writing has duration. Choose simple when the result is the point. Choose continuous when how long is the point.

Keep the three pieces in order: will, have been, -ing. Do not drop been. Do not put for before a starting point: since March, not for March, when March is the start. For three months is a length. The question still starts with will, then the subject, then have been and the -ing form.
