Sound sure, not harsh
Hedging every verb makes a competent person sound absent. A bare “you are wrong” makes a competent person sound unsafe. The band between them is where business English actually lives.

Choose language that holds a position without according-to-me, kind-of, or a personal attack.
On the exam
Delivery and language use are separate scores, but they collapse together when every sentence starts with maybe. One clear verb — recommend, delay, keep — does more than five hedges.

According to me is not a phrase. Kind of maybe possibly is a refusal to have a position, which is exactly what the speaking rubric calls undeveloped.
