Inference without inventing

The most attractive wrong answer on inference items is good management advice that the passage does not contain. You are not being hired. You are being asked what this author committed to.

Objective

Choose what must be true, and reject advice the author never gave.

On the exam

If the stem says inferred, implied, or suggested, the answer is one step from the text, not three. “The author would probably recommend a new software tool” is usually the invented one.

Don't translate it like this

Don't say

The author wants every company to ban hybrid meetings.

Say

The author claims the room gives speaking time to people who can hear an overlap.

A claim about a mechanism is not a ban. Inference items add the ban because it feels decisive.

Phrases

Read them aloud. Listen if you want a model. Nothing is recorded.

Can we look at that assumption again?

그 가정, 다시 볼 수 있을까요?

Assumptions are easier to reopen than decisions people have already defended.

I'm not convinced the data supports that.

그 데이터가 그 결론을 받치는지는 아직 모르겠습니다.

I'm not convinced is professional. I don't think so is thin.

In the room

One step, not three

Use this paragraph. Do not improve it.

  1. Passage

Teams that only asked whether a meeting ended on time could not see whose judgment had been left out.

  2. Passage

    Teams that counted turns could.

What would you say?

All three have to be right to close the lesson.

1. InferenceWhat can be inferred from the two sentences?
2. Negative detailWhich statement is NOT supported by the two sentences?
3. PurposeWhy does the author mention teams that counted turns?

Answer every question, then check.
